March 2012

On Zach's birthday Jim hid a present in the trunk my Mom made several years ago.  Zach loves this "treasure chest" and finding a present it there was the best possible thing!

Zach loves it when he can carrying around an apple, munching on it at his leisure.

Zach finds "tracks" in lots of places for his trains.  I didn't anticipate that the grout spaces in the turret would be one though.

Emilia deep in thought.....

And then she finds out that the camera is headed in her direction....the facial distortions got progressively "worse".  She has learned how to make her Grandma put the camera away!

Week of March 12

Zach loves to go upstairs to the back bedroom and climb up on the bed.  For some reason he LOVES that bed.

We have a corner by the oval window on the landing upstairs that is set up with a bookcase and a bunch of pillows for the little ones to use for reading.  Zach is fond of picking out one or many books and just "reading".

Upstairs again, this time to make a "nest" or a jungle or a troll bridge out of the pillows.

A happy little girl usually arrives from preschool each day.  There is usually a great story to tell from some imaginary game either played at school or on the way home with Grandpa.
And the chair games begin.....notice the toes in her hair....

OK, they can sit together for short periods....

...if the TV show is sufficiently interesting.

But then, Zach almost always wants to climb up on Emilia's lap and that never goes well.  I think Emilia feels a bit too squished in the process.

A short week in Early March

Emilia teasing Grandma after I told her that stickers don't belong in mouths....

Zach is happiest with a pickle in his hand or mouth!

Pickle eating is sometimes very serious business.  I tried to get a picture of him trying to get two pickles in his mouth at one time, but he quickly realized that wasn't the best way to enjoy them.

Going up and down the staircase is also great fun.  He usually loudly announces his intention to climb the stairs because he knows we usually follow closely behind.

One of the ways I entertain him during diaper changes is to make funny faces.  He loves a good cross-eyed goofy face from Grandma.  I usually ask him to make a funny face, too, and this is pretty typical of what I see.  He is so cute when he is intently trying to make a face.  Evidently tightly closing one's eyes is an integral part of a good funny face!
